Wednesday Night Movie
This week's movie at 7:00 PM at the
Ramada is Captain Ron, starring Martin Short and Kurt
Russell. Plot: A family in Chicago inherits the yacht formerly
owned by Clark Gable. They decide to sail it from the island of
Ste. Pomme de Terre to Miami, and they sail with the assistance
of Captain Ron and their lives will never be the same
again. Thanks to Jane and Eric Ellingson for

Board Meeting
The next meeting of the EEHOA Board is Monday,
October 15, at 1:00 PM at the Ramada. Attending is a
good way to find out about what's happening in EE. |
Book Discussion Group
The group will meet on Tuesday, October 9, at 1:00
PM at the Ramada when Linda Sielken will
lead a discussion of A Piece of the World by
Christina Baker Kline. New members are always welcome. Not
available for this meeting? Get a head start on the
November 11th discussion by dusting off your copy of Pavilion
of Women by Pearl S. Buck.

Coffee & Donuts Returns
Please join your friends and neighbors for complimentary
coffee & donuts on Wednesday, October 17, at 8:30 AM at
the Ramada. For you new residents, this is a monthly event held
on the Wednesdays following the monthly board meetings. Just a
low key event to start your day. Stop by on your morning walk
or on your way to your next activity. Thanks to the Cookes and

Marla Ries would like to start an
acoustical instrument musical group to make music together. The
first gathering will be on Thursday, November 8, at 3:00
PM at Marla's house, 852 Calle del Regalo. You

Time to start preparing for EE's annual Arts and Crafts Sale
on Saturday, December 1, from 10:00 AM to noon at
the Ramada. It will be open to the public, so it's a good way to

Free Breakfast at the Fire Station
Green Valley Fire District Station 151 at 250 N. La Canada is
cooking up a free breakfast to thank residents for their
support. Pancakes, sausage, and eggs are on the menu for Friday,
October 12 from 7-10 am. Participants should park
in the Green Valley Community Church parking lot, 300 W.
Esperanza. |
BatWeek
Who knew those little critters had their own week? Bat
Conservation International (BCI) is leading a new initiative to
sustainably feed bats and restore their natural habitat. Join
volunteers from Freeport-McMoRan Sierrita operations and BCI in
planting native agaves (an essential source of food and habitat
for several migratory bat species). The event is Thursday,
October 18, 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM. Bring hats, sunscreen,
water, gloves and sturdy closed toed shoes or boots. Snacks will
be provided. Meet at West Desert Trails entrance gate at Trail
340 and 337. It's located at the end of Golden Desert Way (off
North Desert Bell Drive). Contact Tamra Baxter at
